Did I enjoy this book? This Kristin Hannah book focuses on a woman’s relationship with her husband as well as her relationship with herself. I feel like the general idea of this book has been written a million different times–woman and man marry young, woman supports man through difficult time, man has midlife crisis, woman sulks, man sees the error of his ways. This honestly feels very formulaic, which sounds negative. In truth, I actually liked this book. I liked that the man wasn’t trying to trade in his wife for a younger model, he just didn’t realize what he had. I think a lot of people are guilty of this, both men and women. I appreciated her journey finding herself. In a genre where this plot could feel tired and overdone, I thought his book was well written and a pleasant read.

Would I recommend it? I have enjoyed all of Ms. Hannah’s books, and this one is no different. While this is not my favorite of her books, I still liked it. Enjoy!

About the book – from Goodreads: Elizabeth and Jackson Shore married young, raised two daughters, and weathered the storms of youth as they built a family. From a distance, their lives look picture perfect. But after the girls leave home, Jack and Elizabeth quietly drift apart. When Jack accepts a wonderful new job, Elizabeth puts her own needs aside to follow him across the country. Then tragedy turns Elizabeth’s world upside down. In the aftermath, she questions everything about her life—her choices, her marriage, even her long-forgotten dreams. In a daring move that shocks her husband, friends, and daughters, she lets go of the woman she has become—and reaches out for the woman she wants to be.
