Did I enjoy this book? I loved this book so much! I loved the world the author created, and I loved each of the characters. If I’m being honest, I had a hard time getting through the first couple of pages, but once I made it through, there was no putting this book down! I loved that the heroine was rambunctious, strong-willed, physically strong, intelligent, willing to see the good in people, and willing to accept people as they are. I enjoy a good fantasy book, so I didn’t mind the magic, demons, grimoires, and other fantastic elements of the story. My only complaint is that this is a standalone book. I would love for the author to continue to write in this world and further develop these characters or others!
Would I recommend it? To be fair, I would only recommend this book if you are already a fan of the fantasy genre. But if you crave an escape from the real world, this is a great read!!
About the book – from Goodreads: All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.
Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.
As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined.

I so agree! I was so disappointed after reading it to see that it was a standalone! Fingers crossed that she changes her mind!
