Book Blogger Hop – March 16 – 22, 2018

About the Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s question:
Who is your favorite children’s books author and why? (submitted by Kitty @ Vicarious Bookworm)

This is a great question. I’m not going to say J.K. Rowling because even though the Harry Potter series is my favorite series, I don’t consider it a children’s book. When I think of children’s books, I think of Dr. Seuss. I love those books. I remember learning to read Hop on Pop, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and Fox in Sox. I love hearing my kids learn to read with those same books, especially when my middle son did a particularly dramatic reading of Green Eggs and Ham. It was awesome.

I also loved as a kid The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone and Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney. And I love reading the Fancy Nancy books by Jane O’Connor and Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin to my kids.

So, I guess I don’t have one favorite children’s book author, nor do I have one favorite children’s book. I didn’t even touch on older children’s books, middle grade books, or young YA books. We’ll save those for another day.

Oh Dr. Seuss is just brilliant, so entertaining and ‘Guess How Much I Love You?’ is a true classic. I love reading that to my daughter.

We’ve been reading a lot of Dr. Seuss lately because they did a big reading event for his birthday! I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Green Eggs and Ham is definitely my favorite.

There are so many great children’s book authors. I can’t list just one, either. Barbara Park, Beverly Cleary, Roald Dahl, Andrew Clements, Eric Carle…so many true children’s book authors I don’t even recall by name, I just loved their books!

Those are great picks! 🙂 I don’t think I have ever heard of The Monster at the end of…
Dr. Seuss is a classic especially in March when he is celebrated in schools. He made rhyming fun. I am glad that your son seems to enjoy him as well. 🙂
    Best,
    Christina
