Book Blogger Hop – May 12 – 18, 2017
About the Book Blogger Hop
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.
Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week’s question:
If you read a book you ended up hating, would you stay away from future books by that author, or would you give them a second chance? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)
I can’t remember a book that I actually hated, so I’m not sure I can answer this one. There have been books that weren’t my favorites from authors that I have read, but that hasn’t stopped me from reading other books by those authors.
I’m all for second chances! A few years ago I gave a book a rather scathing review (I can’t remember which one now), and the author contacted me several months later asking me to reread and rereview her work. Turns out she reworked her story, edited and proofread the text several more times, and ended up with a lovely book. I’ll admit I only reread it because she took the time to send me a personal letter asking me to, but gosh I’m glad I did. Her second novel is great, too!

Love your answer!! I think it is wonderful if an author can take a “negative” review and work on it. The best state to be in is that of development. Then you are always growing. Good for you!!!! Hope you will have a good weekend and here’s my Friday Meets: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2017/05/friday-meets-12-may-2017.html

I always give an author another chance.

Nice answers…interesting about not hating a book.
Second chances are always a good option. 🙂 Sounds like it worked out for you, Melissa.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Happy Hopping!!

There are books that I haven’t liked or that I couldn’t get into, but I can’t remember a book that I have HATED. You know?
Thanks for stopping by!

That was fabulous the author took criticisms and was motivated to rework the book. 🙂

That was very brave of you, Melissa, to give that book a second chance. I don’t think many people (me, included) would have. Now, there have been a couple books I didn’t love the first time around (although I didn’t hate them either) that I ended up loving upon re-reading–so I definitely can see it happening.
Like Chrissy, I can’t think of a book I actually hated. Dislike or didn’t care for, yes, but hated. Not that I can remember.
I hope you both have a great week! Thank you for sharing.
