Why did I pick this book: The publisher gave me the opportunity to review this book. It sounded like a good read, so I accepted the offer. (I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)
Did I enjoy this book: I really did. I read every free chance I had and read most of it in one day.
At first, I was concerned. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book. It started a bit slow for me. Then around page 70, I was hooked. I couldn’t put this book down. I had to see if Sadie got her happily ever after.
Happily Ever After was such a fun read. It was very funny. There were quite a few times that I laughed out loud. Well . . . I wanted to laugh out loud, but I was reading it during a class/seminar (I told you I couldn’t put it down) and I didn’t want to actually laugh out loud. I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing too loudly. My shoulders were shaking. I was smiling. And believe me, Internet Law (my seminar topic) isn’t that interesting. I never would have thought that a story about an erotica author would be so funny. But it really was. I loved it.
Sadie is your average work-at-home mom. I loved that she was a size 14, that she had “needs” that she arranged to be taken care of, that she had struggles and insecurities. She was relatable–despite the whole erotic author thing. When her leading male came to life, I was completely invested in this story. I wasn’t expecting it. It was a wonderful twist on paranormal/supernatural/magical without being overly cheesy or predictable. I adored the love interest. (I’m not going to give away this information. I don’t want to ruin the story.) His confession gave me a giddy smile and had me almost squee-ing out loud during my seminar. (I know, I should have been paying attention to the class but the book was just way too entertaining.)
I want to tell you all the details, but I don’t want to spoil it. So many great moments. So many laughs. Wonderful romance. I will probably read this again in the near future.
Would I recommend it: Absolutely. If you like chick lit, romance, a little non-vampire paranormal/magical, and a good laugh, then pick up this book.
About the book – from Goodreads: In this witty, sexy tale, an erotic novelist meets the fictional hero of her most recent book in real life, and must decide whether she wants to get him back between the pages—or between her sheets. At forty-six, Sadie Fuller’s life isn’t exactly romantic. A divorced, overweight, somewhat sexually frustrated mother of an eleven-year-old, she lives in the suburbs, shops the big box stores, makes small talk with her small-minded neighbors, and generally leads a quiet life. But while her daughter is at school, or when Sadie is up late at night, she writes erotic fiction under the name KT Briggs.
Then, during a routine shopping trip, Sadie runs into someone familiar…too familiar, in fact. She encounters an incredibly handsome man exactly like the one in her imagination—and her latest novel. Is Aidan Hathaway really one of her characters? And if so, what is he doing in Target? As Sadie tries to negotiate this strange new world, her eyes begin to open to romantic possibilities in places she never dreamed of looking… places where Happily Ever After might not be so far-fetched after all.
And because I loved this book so much, I am going to give away a copy to one lucky winner! This giveaway is open INT so long as the Book Depository ships to you.

This sounds kind of cool! 🙂 Not my typical read, but I love that the narrator was realistic. I like it when the paranormal twists are aaaawesome instead of cheesy. That rocks!!

This sounds right up my alley. I love reading stories that re-examine “happily ever after” and twist fantasy and reality in a fun way — almost as much as I enjoy writing them! Will definitely put this on my to-read list 🙂

Loved this book! And I totally understand your trying not to laugh during a conference. I laughed the whole way through the book. I especially laughed during the sex scenes she was having in real life. So funny!

This book was a blast! I was also worried at the beginning of the book – not knowing what to expect. But I got hooked and enjoyed every minute of it!
