Did I enjoy this book? I absolutely loved this book. I read it every free chance I had, and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.
Vivian Forest is fabulous. I loved her excitement, her willingness to try new things despite being nervous or afraid, her courage, and her spunk. She just made me smile. She definitely had a knack for getting people to open up and talk, a skill that made her a wonderful and caring social worker. Malcolm Hudson is a dashing man. I loved that he was so taken with Vivian at first sight. He was a good guy who did his job well and loved his nephew as if he were his own son. Vivian and Malcolm are a perfect match. I loved watching their relationship and feelings for each other unfold. Their notes, letters, and postcards were a great way for them to communicate. It just made their relationship all the more romantic.
Overall, this is a fun, sweet, romantic book that had me laughing, swooning, and smiling. My only complaint is that the scone recipe wasn’t included. 😉
Would I recommend it? Absolutely! And don’t think you have to wait for Christmas to read it, you can read this any time of year. It is a fabulous story. Even though it is listed as the fourth book in a series, it is absolutely a stand-alone. You don’t have to read the other books, but I have feeling you’ll want to read more from Ms. Guillory.
About the book – from Goodreads: From the New York Times bestselling author of The Proposal comes a dazzling new novel about a spontaneous holiday vacation that turns into an unforgettable romance.
Vivian Forest has been out of the country a grand total of one time, so when she gets the chance to tag along on her daughter Maddie’s work trip to England to style a royal family member, she can’t refuse. She’s excited to spend the holidays taking in the magnificent British sights, but what she doesn’t expect is to become instantly attracted to a certain private secretary, his charming accent, and unyielding formality.
Malcolm Hudson has worked for the Queen for years and has never given a personal, private tour—until now. He is intrigued by Vivian the moment he meets her and finds himself making excuses just to spend time with her. When flirtatious banter turns into a kiss under the mistletoe, things snowball into a full-on fling.
Despite a ticking timer on their holiday romance, they are completely fine with ending their short, steamy affair come New Year’s Day. . .or are they?
