Did I enjoy this book? I really did. I read it every free chance I had, and I didn’t want to put it down. Once again, this book was told in alternating POVs–Beatrice, Samantha, Nina, and Daphne. I loved reading each woman’s story, but I wasn’t always happy with the choices they made.
Overall, it was a great read. As with American Royals, I loved reading about what an alternate America could have looked like. I loved the continuation of Beatrice’s story, but I wanted to read more about Beatrice leading her country, not planning her wedding. She had been preparing to be queen since she was a child, and she just seemed a bit too timid and unsure. She was letting Robert and her mother take control. I really wanted her to put Robert in his place early on. I was happy with her decision at the end of the book, but I wish it had been made a lot sooner. I thought Samantha had the most growth. It took her a while to get there, but I was happy with where she ended up. Nina was in the story but not like she was in the first book. I hope she finds her happiness, but she’s got to stop letting Daphne get to her. I didn’t like Daphne at all. She didn’t deserve her ending, and I was very surprised by it. Not at all what I was thinking or hoping.
Would I recommend it? If you read American Royals, you have to read Majesty. I’m hoping for a third book.
About the book – from Goodreads: Is America ready for its first queen?
Power is intoxicating. Like first love, it can leave you breathless. Princess Beatrice was born with it. Princess Samantha was born with less. Some, like Nina Gonzalez, are pulled into it. And a few will claw their way in. Ahem, we’re looking at you Daphne Deighton.
As America adjusts to the idea of a queen on the throne, Beatrice grapples with everything she lost when she gained the ultimate crown. Samantha is busy living up to her “party princess” persona…and maybe adding a party prince by her side. Nina is trying to avoid the palace–and Prince Jefferson–at all costs. And a dangerous secret threatens to undo all of Daphne’s carefully laid “marry Prince Jefferson” plans.
A new reign has begun…
