Did I enjoy this book? Of course, I loved Midnight Sun! I cannot count the number of times I have read the Twilight series and watched the movies, so naturally, I was going to read this book ASAP and love every minute of it. Reader beware–this book is LONG. Think of the longest book you’ve ever read . . . this is significantly longer. I loved the insight we got into the lives of vampires and the interactions Edward had with all of his siblings. This book explained many of the more subtle details in the original series. I also loved that Bella was not the primary focus of this book, she’s just not my favorite. I didn’t care for how long the book was; it was difficult to get through the whole thing. I also didn’t like Jessica’s internal monologue! Perhaps Anna Kendrick spoiled this character for me, but I didn’t hate her in the original series (books or movies). However, her inner thoughts were so mean and catty all the time in this book. I was forced to hate her, and I didn’t want to! I thought this story did an excellent job of setting up the plot with Jacob in the subsequent books and laying the foundation for the events in New Moon.

Would I recommend it? If you’ve read the Twilight books, you have to read this. It’s absolutely worth it. The only drawback is that I now want to reread the Twilight series, but I’ve got too many new books on my TBR pile! Edward’s viewpoint is a welcome change from Bella, and I truly hope the author writes the other books from his perspective as well!

About the book – from Goodreads: When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella’s side of the story. At last, readers can experience Edward’s version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.

This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he justify following his heart if it means leading Bella into danger?
