Did I enjoy this book? I loved this series!! Surprisingly, I watched the first movie before I picked up any of these books. I enjoyed the movie but had very strong opinions about some of the characters. I’ll say it–I hated movie-Peeta. Fortunately, the remaining movies hadn’t been made yet, so I had time to read all three books before watching the rest of the series. I loved all the books! I thought the characters were all well developed, the story was unique and well written, and it was an overall satisfying read. Katniss is exactly the heroine that I wanted her to be. She is a family-oriented person who has no time for silly love triangles. Even when she accidentally ends up in a love triangle, she still hates every part of it. She is strong and resourceful, and she is willing to do what is right no matter what. I thought the author did a fabulous job of portraying all the stressful situations in the book. She even changed my mind and I loved book-Peeta!!! Overall, I loved this entire series. I thought it was a very unique idea, and I appreciated the author’s ability to realistically write from a teenager’s point of view.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. This is a very entertaining read. Yes, there is violence, and the concept of that violence can be a bit disturbing at first. However, if my (future) teenaged daughter is going to read a book with a teen-based love triangle in it, I would much rather it have a strong heroine! I loved Katniss, and I look forward to my kids reading this, when they are older!!!
About the book – from Goodreads: The extraordinary, ground breaking New York Times bestsellers The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, along with the third book in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay, are available for the first time ever in a beautiful boxset edition. Stunning, gripping, and powerful. The trilogy is now complete!

I agree. Katness is a wonderfully powerful character shoved into some terrible situations. I loved these books even though the content was hard to stomach at times.

I agree. She was forced into some awful situations, but she was strong and resilient even when she didn’t want to be.

I couldn’t read this series when I first tried because if the first person POV, but a year or so later I tried again and loved them. But damn they are gritty at times.
