Did I enjoy this book? If you recall my review of book 5, I was super excited because Chaol wasn’t in it. Sad to say, Tower of Dawn is ALL Chaol! Womp womp. So essentially, the author went back to the end of book 4 and picked up the plot at the same point, but now we see what’s happening to Chaol and Nesryn. In my opinion, this book was completely unnecessary. I understand that Aelin likely needs this army and the weird angle of the Healer’s, but there had to have been a much more direct way of bringing that into the mix.

Would I recommend it? I mean, you have to read book 6 before you can read book 7. So if you are reading the series, slog through this one. Just know that Chaol is somehow even MORE annoying in this book than he is in any of the other books. What’s even worse is that you don’t get a break from him! The WHOLE book is about Chaol. What a complete waste. I wish you could skip it, but you can’t. UGH.

About the book – from Goodreads: In the next installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, follow Chaol on his sweeping journey to a distant empire.

Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken.

His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica—the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing its rulers to ally with them.

But what they discover in Antica will change them both—and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined.
