Did I enjoy this book? Yes, very much. Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, and if not for her, I most likely wouldn’t be an author myself. That said, I’ve grown tired of her trilogies–they’ve become predictable, the same story just different character names, places, and careers. So, it’s been a while since I’ve read something of Nora’s. On a whim this weekend I picked up three of her stand-alones. The Liar was the one I was most intrigued with, so I started with it. I was completely sucked in from the first page. It was classic Nora in 514 glorious pages. I could’t put the book down, so desperately did I want to know what happened. I haven’t been sucked into a book like that in a long time, sucked in so much that I used “every free chance” to read. I finished the book in about thirty-six hours. I have three kids, one of whom is sick, and it was Super Bowl Sunday. Great story!
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. It’s classic Nora. What else is there to say?
About the book – from Goodreads:
The extraordinary new novel by the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Collector.
Shelby Foxworth lost her husband. Then she lost her illusions …
The man who took her from Tennessee to an exclusive Philadelphia suburb left her in crippling debt. He was an adulterer and a liar, and when Shelby tracks down his safe-deposit box, she finds multiple IDs. The man she loved wasn’t just dead. He never really existed.
Shelby takes her three-year-old daughter and heads south to seek comfort in her hometown, where she meets someone new: Griff Lott, a successful contractor. But her husband had secrets she has yet to discover. Even in this small town, surrounded by loved ones, danger is closer than she knows—and threatens Griff, as well. And an attempted murder is only the beginning …
