Did I enjoy this book? I really did. I was about halfway through it when my son saw it and wanted to read it. I, of course, gave it to him to read. He loved it. When I got a chance to finish it, I loved it too.
The Magic Misfits was a fun read. I loved the magic trick instructions and the “hidden” messages throughout the book. It made it more interactive and interesting for the younger middle grade reader. The illustrations fit the story. You just had to love the “misfits.” I enjoyed their magic tricks and how they worked together to overcome a major obstacle. I loved Carter’s integrity. There was adventure, and even the table of contents made me laugh.
The whole book just made me smile and kept me reading. I can’t wait for book 2, The Magic Misfits: The Second Story.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. This was such a fun read. My son loved it, too!
About the book – from Goodreads: From beloved award-winning actor, Neil Patrick Harris, comes the magical first book in a new series with plenty of tricks up its sleeve.
When street magician Carter runs away, he never expects to find friends and magic in a sleepy New England town. But like any good trick, things change instantly as greedy B.B. Bosso and his crew of crooked carnies arrive to steal anything and everything they can get their sticky fingers on.
After a fateful encounter with the local purveyor of illusion, Dante Vernon, Carter teams up with five other like-minded kids. Together, using both teamwork and magic, they’ll set out to save the town of Mineral Wells from Bosso’s villainous clutches. These six Magic Misfits will soon discover adventure, friendship, and their own self-worth in this delightful new series.
