Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Did I enjoy this book: I didn’t read the first book in the series, so I was expecting to be a little bit lost, and I was, at first. Lucky for me, White does a great job recapping and flashbacking, so by the end of the first few chapters I had a pretty good feel for what I’d missed in Book One. I wish I’d have had a bit more background knowledge of just what sort of world I was jumping into, but I have no one to blame but myself for that.
Warlord’s Wager is exciting, but I get the feeling I’m in for the long haul with this series. I’ve bonded with Axel, Lynx, and Tao, and I don’t *want* to wait sixteen years to see how their story ends. If I ever get a Free Chance (Heh. See what I did there?) I’d love to go back and read the first book, Rebel’s Honor, just to fill in a few details that are still nagging at me. Hm, you know? Maybe I WILL have a chance now that I’m letting Blue Apron do my meal planning . . .
GOLDEN LINE
“. . . the consequences of our choices are not of our choosing.”
Would I recommend it: I think so, yeah. I get the feeling we’re going to be with these families for a few generations. =)
About the book – from Goodreads: The addiction continues . . .
The war in Treven has shifted to Axel’s conscience. Torn between loyalty and love, he has to decide whether he’s willing to risk everything to protect Lynx, his family, and the people of Chenaya from Lukan’s brutal ice crystal dreams.
Warlord’s Wager brings back Lynx, Axel, Lukan, Felix, and Tao for another adventure full of intrigue, war, politics, and romance. If you are not hooked, you are reading the wrong book
