Did I enjoy this book: I really did. It took a bit to get into it, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. I thought it was fabulous.
I loved that this book was told from Adam’s point of view. In If I Stay, we see Mia’s point of view, and we don’t really know what’s going on with Adam. In Where She Went, we see the aftermath. Adam’s band is bigger than ever and the media wants to know the whole story behind their newest songs. Adam won’t talk about his past, but that past still haunts him. Then, he finds her. I loved the way Adam and Mia reconnected. I loved that this entire story, for the most part, took place in about twenty-four hours. It showed that sometimes all it takes is a day to change things. I also enjoyed the flashbacks that filled in what Adam went through for three years.
I can honestly say that I liked this book more than the first one, which I really enjoyed. Where She Went had a bit more raw emotion and inner turmoil. There are some scenes that will just rip your heart out. I loved it.
Would I recommend it: Yes, but be sure to read If I Stay first. (You can read my review of If I Stay here.) Now I must go buy more Gayle Forman books.
About the book – from Goodreads: It’s been three years since the devastating accident . . . three years since Mia walked out of Adam’s life forever.
Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard’s rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia’s home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future – and each other.
Told from Adam’s point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.
