Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Did I enjoy this book: I did!
I was in the mood for something light, and Moyes delivers with what I’m reasonably certain could be the next hit RomCom (can someone get Katherine Heigl on the phone?). One Plus One is funny and entertaining, and though I’m pretty sure things in the real world don’t end up quite so perfectly, I’m cool with suspending my disbelief for this one. The characters are well developed, the writing is above average, and heck. Even I like a Happy Ending every once in a while.
GOLDEN LINES
“‘Where the hell are we, anyway?’
‘Oh, somewhere on the Yellow Brick Road.’
‘Is that the one with the godlike lion that saves everyone?’
‘You’re thinking of Narnia. This one is cowardly and useless.’
‘Figures.'”
Would I recommend it: Yeah! If you’re looking for a light, read-it-by-the-pool sort of a thing, this book fits the bill.
About the book – from Goodreads: One single mom. One chaotic family. One quirky stranger. One irresistible love story from the New York Times bestselling author of Me Before You
Suppose your life sucks. A lot. Your husband has done a vanishing act, your teenage stepson is being bullied and your math whiz daughter has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you can’t afford to pay for. That’s Jess’s life in a nutshell—until an unexpected knight-in-shining-armor offers to rescue them. Only Jess’s knight turns out to be Geeky Ed, the obnoxious tech millionaire whose vacation home she happens to clean. But Ed has big problems of his own, and driving the dysfunctional family to the Math Olympiad feels like his first unselfish act in ages… maybe ever.
