Why did I pick this book: I participated in the blog tour hosted by Xpresso Book Tours. (I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)
Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. It was a sweet, coming home story with a happy ending. It was a relatively quick read and I connected with the characters fairly well.
Molly left law school before her last set of finals of her first year. (I’m sure this is something that a lot of law students – past and present – have thought about doing!) She went home…home to the house in the town where she grew up. Things are different now for Molly but the town, and its residents, are basically the same. She feels lost and guilty for the deaths of her father and her fiance. This guilt is hard for her to overcome except with her high school sweetheart. I got Molly for the most part but sometimes I just didn’t understand her reasoning behind not telling everyone about Adam’s, her fiance’s, death. I don’t see how telling people that they broke up is easier than telling them that he died. I don’t know.
Gavin is a nice guy…a bit too sure of himself though. Ben was sweet and still in love with Molly. I can’t believe he still held a flame for her after so many years. That was sweet. Molly’s best friend, Kelly, is a true best friend…even though they hadn’t really been together or talked for a few years, they were still there for each other. Molly agreed to be her maid of honor despite the date of the wedding which, to me, was not very considerate of Kelly.
All-in-all, a good story and a light read. Did I want more? Yes. More of the back story between Molly and Ben. I also would like to have had more story about Molly and Adam. Everything just fell into place…which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it made the book predictable. However — Will I read the next book in the Clayton Falls series? Yes, I will read Veer.
Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book if you are looking for a sweet, quick read.
Will I read it again: I will not read this book again. However, I will read the other books in the Clayton Falls series.
About the book: When you’re lost, sometimes the only place you can go is home.
Broken over the death of her fiancé, Molly leaves law school to return to her childhood home in North Carolina. Expecting to lay low until she can figure out what else to do with her life, she finds herself in the arms of her high school sweetheart, the boy who represents everything from the past she tried to leave behind.Looking for an escape, she instead finds a way back to the girl she almost forgot existed and a future she never dreamed possible.

About the book: Only when you let go can you learn to live.
Between the death of her mother and pushing through law school without her best friend, it’s been a tough year for Becca. Needing a break from Boston, she moves to a tiny coastal North Carolina town for a relaxing summer. After bumping heads repeatedly with a local cop, she realizes her summer will be anything but quiet.
Three years after a career ending injury ruins his chance to play Major League Baseball, Gavin has a distrust of northerners and lately girls in general. He wants nothing to do with a girl who is only in town for the summer.
When the two give in to their impossible attraction, they realize that they may just have found the key to freeing themselves from the ghosts of their pasts.
