Why did I pick this book: I participated in the blog tour hosted by Premier Virtual Author Book Tours. (I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)
Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. I read it every free chance I had. I couldn’t wait to see how the story ended.
It was suspenseful, action-packed, and had me on the edge of my seat. The prologue hooked me and freaked me out just a bit. I had to see how this story played out. There were times when I was looking over my shoulder and watching for disturbances; that’s how real it felt to me.
Brenna thinks it is all a prank by some of her students until she wakes up knowing someone was in her bedroom watching her. I don’t know how it was that Brenna remained so strong and relatively level-headed throughout her whole ordeal. I would not have been able to do that. She was bound and determined to make it through and do what she had to do to make this demon leave her alone.
Eaton and Slaton are the love interests in some sense in this story. I thought Eaton was caring and genuinely concerned for Brenna’s safety. Slaton clearly loves Brenna but doesn’t always show that love in the best way. At times, I really did not like Slaton. I thought he was pushy and domineering. But at other times, I thought he was a good guy. The feud between the two was borderline adolescent. I just wanted them to grow up and act like men, not teen-aged boys, and remember that Brenna’s safety should be the foremost thought in their respective minds.
The supernatural portion of this story did remind me of another story with beings of a similar nature. (I know that sounds cryptic…but I do not want to give away anything in this story.) The similarity wasn’t such that I wanted to stop reading and it didn’t detract from the overall storyline. But that similarity did pop into my head on a regular basis while I was reading this book.
The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger. I will read the sequel, Dark Connections, to see how the story continues.
Would I recommend it: I would recommend it.
Will I read it again: I will not read it again. I will be looking forward to Dark Connections.
About the book – from Goodreads: Just as love appears, so does the darkness. With her heart reaching out for one man, Brenna finds herself the target of an unknown stalker. Who is he? What does he want? How far will he go for her? Death is an option. Brenna discovers more than she bargained for and learns that the stalker will kill for her. It all comes down to decisions, and no matter what she chooses it will demand sacrifice and someone’s blood.
About the author: Rebecca Graf is a wife and mother of three when she is not writing. From writing online for various companies to book reviews to her own novels, Rebecca spends most of her days reading and writing.
She worked as an accountant for 20 years before taking a chance and trying to make it as a writer. She has been published on sites such as BellaOnline.com, HubPages, and Natural Family Today. She also freelances where she writes for several different companies.
She is an avid reader and has found a love of writing all types of genres. She self-published her first children’s book, A Gift for a Mouse, two years ago. Since then, she has started her own publishing company with a friend. Deep Connections is their first publication.
