Did I enjoy this book? Oh my goodness–there are not words to describe how much I love this book! The scenery and character descriptions are enough on their own, and then the plot! Oh, the story here! If you are looking for a book to read to escape from the real world, this is the book for you!

In 1940s Scotland, a woman (Claire) visits a ring of standing stones (think Stonehenge, but smaller) and “falls” through time, landing in 1743 Scotland. She gets swept up into current events, tries to get back to the stones in the hopes that she can get back to her own time, ends up accidentally married to the most perfect man ever wished into creation, and has a pretty epic time in the past! The character development throughout the book is amazing. Everything is very well researched and believable (obviously once you accept the whole “going back in time” thing). It’s no wonder this was picked up and made into a show on Starz (also worth watching).

Would I recommend it? I recommend it to everyone I talk to. I strike up conversations with complete strangers and tell them to read this book. I’m not quite sure why YOU haven’t already gotten your hands on a copy and read this book! This book is amazing and you will not be sorry that you read it!

About the book – from Goodreads: The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Love this whole series. What is not to love? A time travel love affair? OMG, the books the TV series. It is amazing. I love Claire and Jamie and Love Bree and Roger. The series can at times get a bit – redundant, but it’s still worth reading through. I am glad you enjoyed it!
