Book Blogger Hop – January 26 – February 1, 2018

About the Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s question:

Do you ever go back to older posts and change things? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

Yes! It is a blog maintenance project I hope to complete this year. When I switched from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress site, my posts lost some of their formatting. So, I am going back to clean those up. I’ve also noticed that some of my graphics and pictures have disappeared from posts. And I’m adding/updating the affiliate links on the posts.

If you are a blogger, do you go back and change/fix older posts?

Good luck with cleaning things up…a major task.

I noticed too that some of my book photos no longer appear. Not going to fix them, though, unless the book becomes popular again. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and joining in the fun.

      Thanks!

I’m not sure why the pictures disappeared. It’s weird.

      Thanks for visiting EFC, Elizabeth!

On some of my old posts, instead of pictures, there’s a notification from Photobucket that reads: “Please update your account to enable 3rd party hosting. For additional information, please go to photobucket.com.” Not sure why this happened, but, in these cases, I just went into my PC’s Pictures folder and put the pics back up. When I went to Photobucket for more info, I was taken to a page which detailed PAYMENT plans. I’m not going to pay for ANY blogging “service! Lol.

You are my hero. I thought about updating all my old posts to my new format, and I just couldn’t even deal with it. It was too daunting. I applaud you! I know I have some broken links and probably disappearing photos.

Thanks!!!! I’m just going to take my time and go month by month until it gets done. I’ve been wanting to do this for a year or so. This will be the year!!! =)

You know, from time to time I have toyed with the idea of transferring my blog to WordPress. But, just thinking of the hassles involved — such as what you’re mentioning here — has always stopped me. Besides, I am very satisfied with the current look of my blog, which I know I would lose if I went to WordPress. Another drawback is that WordPress doesn’t allow bloggers to post book tour posts. I participate in those. But heck, everyone’s different, so if WordPress is working out for you, GREAT!! 🙂 🙂

I don’t go back all that often to change things on old posts, as it’s very time-consuming. However, things like typos and grammatical errors do bother me, so I will fix those. Ditto with disappearing pictures, or links that no longer work because the sites have been moved elsewhere. As for other things, I let them be. They show my progress as a blogger.

Thanks for sharing, and have fun updating! Also, thanks for dropping by and commenting on my BBH post!! <3 <3 <3 🙂 🙂 🙂

I participate in blog tour posts all the time. I’m on a self-hosted WordPress site, not the free version. The actual transfer to the new website wasn’t too bad. It’s just that some of the old posts look a bit odd and some pictures went missing.

Have a great week, Maria! Thanks for visiting!
