Did I enjoy this book:
I really did. I saw the movie first, then read the screenplay. It is exactly as the movie, so it was really nice to relive the action at home. The illustrations in the book are really neat. Some of the beasts look pretty cool. And the embellishments on each page are beautiful. The story is awesome. I love Newt and Jacob. They are my favorites. Their scene in Central Park is a classic. The story is action-packed and reminds you why you love magic. The niffler was my favorite beast in this story.

As I said, I saw the movie first and I loved it. It was clear that the screenplay was written for the movie only and not going from book to movie. I wasn’t constantly missing things or wishing parts were included. We didn’t have to learn about the wizarding world either. The difference between American witches and wizards and British witches and wizards is interesting, but not too different. Just a difference of opinion about the greatest school for witchcraft and wizardry and some of the terminology is a bit different. I’m not sure how I feel about the term “no maj” . . . I like muggle better. 😉 Truly, the movie was fabulous and the screenplay is a great addition to my Harry Potter collection. I can’t wait for the next Fantastic Beasts installment.

Would I recommend it: Yes, I absolutely would. If you’ve seen the movie, it’s a great way to relive it. And it’s a must for any Harry Potter collection.

About the book – from Goodreads:
When Magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when his magical case is misplaced and some of Newt’s fantastic beasts escape, it spells trouble for everyone…

I love screenplays. I also haven’t gotten around to seeing the movie, though I’m dying to.
