In the Kitchen: Home Chef: Hot Honey Chicken

efckitchen

Hi, Everyone!

In an effort to spend less time meal planning and more time reading, I decided to give Home Chef a try. It costs less than taking the whole family to a restaurant, and it seemed like a fun way to add some new recipes to my repertoire.

Tonight: Clementine and Hot Honey Chicken with Sunchokes and balsamic jus

Y’all ever heard of sunchokes? Yah, me either. The recipe card told me they’re delicious and able to be eaten raw, so, you know, I tried one.

Looks gross. Tastes DELICIOUS. Sunchokes are sort of a cross between a potato and a kholorobi: crunchy and starchy with just a little bit of sweet. YUM. Listen, I’m typically not a fan of potatoes (I think they’re sort of boring), but I’ll replace them with these little beauties any day. My mission this summer is to find out where to purchase and/or grow these guys. Anyway. I digress.

The end recipe result: tasty, but not very photogenic:

gooey, gross-looking HEAVEN!

If I make it again: I’d do it exactly the same way. 5/5, Home Chef. YUM!

Did my kids eat it: Um. Sort of. I’m slowly learning that the baby will eat anything and, although he used to be brave, my son has resorted to the typical preschool diet of brown, boring-looking things and ice cream.
