My reviews: Divergent and Insurgent. And here are Melissa’s: Divergent, Insurgentand Allegiant.

Did I enjoy this book: For the most part, I did enjoy this book. It was a decent end to this series.

** Fair Warning: This review will contain a few mild spoilers. And it will be a bit vague because I don’t want to spoil it for those who have been able to avoid all other reviews and spoilers out there. **

Allegiant was a fitting end to the series. But it did take us into an unbelievable world. Look, I could buy into the world of Divergent and Insurgent. That world was plausible. I could see that happening. Truly. It’s not hard to believe. But the turn Allegiant took was a bit too much for me to believe. Pushing that disbelief aside, the story made sense. I could see where it was going. But it was hard to get behind the other rebellion. It was just too much for me. Now, to the part that A LOT of people disliked (hated, were devastated by, whatever) . . . it happened the only way it could have happened. Period. There was no other way for it to work. It had to be that way. And, for me, it was done correctly. It was the right call and it made sense.

The dual narration between Four and Tris was interesting. I liked reading Four’s point of view. But, like Melissa, there were quite a few times that I had to flip back to the beginning of the chapter to see who’s POV I was reading. That was a bit distracting. Toward the end of the book, I couldn’t decipher who was talking.

Other than that, it was a good read. It kept me interested until the very end. I’m glad I finished the series. And I wonder where the characters are now. 😉 It still has me thinking weeks after I closed the cover.

Would I recommend it: If you read the first two books, then definitely read this one. You need the closure.

About the book – from Goodreads:
The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered–fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature–and of herself–while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

Told from a riveting dual perspective, Allegiant, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, brings the Divergent series to a powerful conclusion while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.
