Did I enjoy this book:
I fell in love with Dragonfly in Amber over time. It wasn’t an instant love only because the true heart of the book didn’t happen for me until 70% of the way through. This novel deals a lot with war and what it can do to people. We see how the Jacobites wanted so much more for their country, and it broke my heart to see some characters I loved go through so much for their beloved country (Why yes, I do get emotionally attached to characters like they are my family).

There were scenes in this book, one in particular I won’t go into detail about, that had enough pure emotion to make me curl up with my Winnie the Pooh Bear and snuggle.

Dragonfly in Amber had loving moments, emotional moments, and dramatic moments. So I wasn’t shocked when the book ended in a cliffhanger – one that almost made me tiptoe into my sleeping daughter’s room to sneak the third book in the series. Almost.

Golden Line

“You dinna need to understand me, Sassenach,” he said quietly. “So long as you love me.”

Would I recommend it: Yes.  As an emotional woman who loves a good romance, this book is a must for me.  I’m only on book two and I’m wrapped up in the whole world of Outlander.

About the book – from Goodreads: With her now-classic novel Outlander, Diana Gabaldon introduced two unforgettable characters — Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser—delighting readers with a story of adventure and love that spanned two centuries. Now Gabaldon returns to that extraordinary time and place in this vivid, powerful follow-up to Outlander….

For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland’s majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones … about a love that transcends the boundaries of time … and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his….

Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire’s spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart … in a race to thwart a doomed Highlands uprising … and in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves….

Terri, I can’t wait to start the next one! These books pack a lot of emotion into their many pages. I don’t even know where Jamie and Claire will go next.
