Thoughtful Thursday – Genre of Choice – June 26, 2014

ThoughtfulThursday

Reading Is Fun Again created Thoughtful Thursday. Each week, she posts a new bookish thought that she discusses.

Everyone is welcome to join.

June 26: What is your book of choice? Romance? Horror? Thriller? Mystery? Coming-of-age? Feel free to get as specific or as broad as possible.

I’m a sucker for dystopian books, especially if they involve any or all of the above listed choices.  Start with a dystopian world, throw in a bit of love, a bit of mystery, and perhaps a bit of magic, and I’ll stay up way past my bedtime to finish your book!

I like a lot -memoirs, chick lit, women’s fiction, mystery, true crime, suspense. I thought I’d hate sic-fi but read two books for friends to review and shockingly loved!

I like all of those — and like you, Hilary, I never thought I would like sci-fi but I have read some wonderful ones!

I love dystopia too and even better with a good dose of romance.

I love fantasy and dystopia. They are a nice change from the real world.

I’m with you, Jennifer, I like to have a change from the real world every now and then. It’s a good escape.

When I answered this question on my blog I picked Contemporary Adult Fiction since that was the overwhelming majority on my shelf. But I am all over the place based on my mood. Book blogging has added YA and children books to my reading list.

Chick lit is a usual go-to genre for me. But, like you, I’m a mood reader as well. And blogging has added quite a few genres to my list. 😉

Dystopian was my go to genre too, I can’t get enough of it. I have been reading some really brilliant contemporaries recently though, so I will be hunting more of those down too. Great answer, here’s mine.

That’s exactly my favorite type, too! I have yet to get my fill of dystopia, even when I read one that’s exactly the same as another I’ve read.
