Thoughtful Thursday – Secondary Characters in Series – May 8, 2014

ThoughtfulThursday

Reading Is Fun Again created Thoughtful Thursday. Each week, she posts a new bookish thought that she discusses.

Everyone is welcome to join.

May 8: Have you ever continued to read a series because you really liked the secondary characters but you didn’t like the protagonist/s very much?

Yup.  I’ve even kept reading while seriously disliking the plot just to see how certain characters’ story lines would play out.  Case in Point:  the Anita Blake Series.

Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter Wiki

I didn’t care for Anita, and as the series went on I liked the plot (and the other characters) less and less.

…You know what?  Never mind.  I didn’t like any of this series.  I guess the answer is no.  Sorry, Anita.  =(

I haven’t read this series and I am definitely not excited too, but I can totally understand why you wanted to keep reading it!

Let’s just say I was going through a “read ALL THE VAMPIRE BOOKS” phase… =)

It’s not a series, but it’s an author. I feel like Geraldine Brooks makes really interesting secondary characters and slightly less interesting main characters.
