About the book – from Goodreads: To forgive or not to forgive…

There’s a storm brewing at Black Cat Records and lead singer Marcus Anthony and guitarist Avery Jones are at the center of it.

Brutal Strength is leaving Vancouver and heading out on a big stadium tour with the reprobate rockers from Tempest as their opening act.

Avery is forced to deal with a troubling figure from her past while being pursued by Tempest’s tatted bad boy, Bryan ‘Bullet’ Jackson.

Meanwhile, Marcus must battle his own internal demons as well as this rival for Avery’s affection.

Can Avery and Marcus keep their fairy tale happily ever after together when the prevailing winds of the real world are against them?

Love Resolution is the third book in the Black Cat Records series.

**A new adult contemporary novel with mature subject matter*

Why did I pick this book: I participated in the blog tour hosted by AToMR Tours(I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)

Did I enjoy this book:
I did enjoy this book. It took a little while to get into, but I was glad I stuck with it until the end.

At first, I found this story to be a bit contrived and the early scenes between Avery and Marcus just didn’t work for me. Avery lost her twin brother to a mobster. In order to escape herself – and make enough money to pay him off – she becomes a guy to audition for the lead guitarist spot with Brutal Strength. Marcus has been down on himself, just out of rehab and not finding his muse. In Avery, the guy, Marcus finds his love for music as he and Avery, the guy, begin writing songs together. This is a great premise – intriguing, probably romantic, fun.

Then we get to where the two “guys” are hanging out and getting to know each other. These scenes did not work for me and almost made me give this book a 2 star rating. I just can’t see two guys going to a farmer’s market, picking out bread, cheese, and fruit and having a picnic together. This would not happen. I just don’t see it at all. Also, I don’t see two guys talking about emotional issues and their pasts as much as Marcus and Avery, the guy, did. All that they did together I saw as a guy and a girl. It didn’t work as two guys, for me.

However, as the story went on, I was hooked. I wanted to see what would happen if Avery revealed herself to Marcus. I wanted to know what happened with the mobster. Were there surprises? Yes. Were there unbelievable events? Yes. Was I entertained? Yes.

Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book if you like the NA genre and books about rock stars.

Will I read it again: I will not but I will read the next two books in this series – Love Revolution and Love Resolution.

About the book – from Goodreads:
Nineteen year old Avery Jones can play the guitar as well as any guy. Better Even.

Brutal Strength, one of the biggest bands around, needs a new lead guitarist.

Seems like the perfect fit, except for one big problem. Temperamental lead singer Marcus Anthony won’t allow a woman in his band.

Read Love Evolution, a rock ‘n roll adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

About the author: Michelle Mankin is a young/new adult romance writer as well as a self-proclaimed giant… inside of her own mind!

For many years she worked in the insurance industry as an underwriter. Somehow, the boredom didn’t kill her but the hour and hours of looking at facts and figures provided ample time for her mind to wander.

Love Evolution, Love Revolution, and Love Resolution are all part of the Black Cat Records trilogy using the plot underpinnings of Shakespeare combined with the drama, excitement, and indisputable sexiness of the rock ‘n roll industry.

When she is not putting her daydreams down on paper, you can find her traveling the world, sometimes for real and sometimes for pretend as she takes the kids  back and forth to school.
