Why did I pick this book: I participated in the blog tour hosted by CLP Blog Tours(I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)

Did I enjoy this book:
I did enjoy this book. I read it every free chance and I finished it in one day. (I’m on a roll!! Two books in a row finished in one day! Yay for me!)

At first, I wasn’t sure about the book. It was okay, typically boy-meets-girl, each has a past that they don’t wish to reveal. The beginning was a bit slow but as I continued reading, I was hooked. I couldn’t put this book down. I wanted to keep reading. I wanted to see where these two – Scarlett and Tucker – would go next. I wanted so much for each of them.

Scarlett is a sweet girl with some issues. Her anxiety and fear and closed off-ness is all warranted given her past. I can’t blame her for anything. I wanted her to move beyond her past and start to have fun and experience life. Tucker is the cocky sports star – soccer in this case – who can get any girl he wants. Tucker has a past as well and no one would have guessed it. Then, he meets Scarlett and both of their worlds are rocked. They find peace and understanding in each other. The missing piece is found. Their romance is unlikely but so sweet. You can’t imagine it any other way.

I love characters that surprise me. Scarlett and Tucker both surprised me. I wasn’t expecting what I found out about them. I wasn’t expecting where they went together. I wasn’t expecting the end. At one point, I gasped out loud because I couldn’t believe the words that were said. I was emotionally invested in Scarlett and Tucker.

All-in-all, a great read that drew me in and made me care.

Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book. It is a great read that leaves you with a smile. I’m liking this NA (New Adult) genre.

Will I read it again: I may, but I’m not sure. It isn’t a book that will call to me from my shelves, “Please read me again right now!!!” but it may be a book that I pick up again in the future.

About the book – from Goodreads:
Scarlett Goodwin’s world is divided into Before and After.

Before she agreed to tutor Tucker price, college junior Scarlett was introvert, struggling with her social anxiety and determined to not end up living in a trailer park like her mother and her younger sister. A mathematics major, she goes to her classes, to her job in the tutoring lab, and then hides in the apartment she shares with her friend, Caroline.

After junior Tucker Price, Southern University’s star soccer player enters the equation, her carefully plotted life is thrown off its axis. Tucker’s failing his required College Algebra class. With his eligibility is at risk, the university chancellor dangles an expensive piece of computer software for the math department if Scarlett agrees to privately tutor him.Tucker’s bad boy, womanizer reputation makes Scarlett wary of any contact, let alone spending several hours a week in close proximity.

But from her first encounter, she realizes Tucker isn’t the person everyone else sees. He carries a mountain of secrets which she suspects hold the reason to his self-destructive behavior. But the deeper she delves into the cause of his pain, the deeper she gets sucked into his chaos. Will Scarlett find the happiness she’s looking for, or will she be caught in Tucker’s aftermath?

Every Free Chance Book Reviews is pleased to welcome Denise Grover Swank, author of After Math and The Chosen Series to the blog today. She has answered the some questions for all of you.

How does it feel to be a USA Today Bestseller?

It was pretty surreal. I had hoped to make a list with After Math, but i didn’t expect to hit it the second week after release.

How do you balance being a writer 7 days a week and a mother of 6 24-7?

I delegate work. It’s not easy for me because I’m a pretty independent person, but my business has grown to a place where I can’t do everything myself. I have someone clean my house once a week. I pay a high school girl to come twice a week to fold and put away laundry. I’ve hired a friend to work as my assistant 15 hours a week. Even with all that help, I still work seven days a week, often 10-14 hours a day. There’s never enough time to get everything done.

Where do you find your inspiration for all of your books?

My inspiration comes from everywhere and everything. Often TV shows or movies spur ideas, but sometimes real life incidents will inspire me. The inspiration for AFTER MATH  came from the idea that I wanted a female character with a mathematics major. I knew she’d be a different type of character than I was used to writing–she’d be analytical, and left brained. Her character totally intrigued me.
