Why did I pick this book: I participated in the blog tour hosted by Tribute Books(I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. It was exciting, different, and kept me interested. I read it every free chance I had and finished it in just over 2 days.

The concept for this book was different for me. Yes, it is about time travel and how one person can change the course of the future – or history as we know it. However, the manner by which they travel – boys go to the past, girls travel to the future – was different and added a unique twist to these types of stories. The tick-tocks were intriguing characters. They weren’t human but clockmen who wanted to change time to suit themselves and they wanted to stop the time travelers. The tick-tocks were quite violent always seemed one step ahead.

Charlie and Yvaine, our main characters, are not your typical teens. They are time travelers…easily forgotten by everyone but leave their mark on the world. Charlie did not know what he was until he showed up in 18th century England after following a tick-tock. There he meets Yvaine and so begins their adventure. Yvaine is originally from Scotland and knows how to handle herself and those around her. She is not afraid of much and she loves her infant son dearly. While Charlie and Yvaine seem an unlikely match, they work well together. They are a bit young for some of their interactions but they suit one another.

I did not like Charlie’s dad. He seemed too distant and uncaring. I enjoyed Charlie’s aunt, Sophie. She seemed pretty cool…a bit klutzy but cool. I felt bad for Charlie’s mother. She just seemed lost and lonely.

I want to know what happens next. I will be anxiously awaiting a sequel to Untimed. I will also have to read more by this author.

Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book to any adult who enjoys adventure YA books and to older young adults, especially boys who are at least 16 as the language and sex scenes are a bit much for the younger readers in my opinion.

Will I read it again: I will not.

About the book: Charlie’s the kind of boy that no one notices. Hell, even his own mother can’t remember his name. And girls? The invisible man gets more dates.

As if that weren’t enough, when a mysterious clockwork man tries to kill him in modern day Philadelphia, and they tumble through a hole into 1725 London, Charlie realizes even the laws of time don’t take him seriously.

Still, this isn’t all bad. In fact, there’s this girl, another time traveler, who not only remembers his name, but might even like him! Unfortunately, Yvaine carries more than her share of baggage: like a baby boy and at least two ex-boyfriends! One’s famous, the other’s murderous, and Charlie doesn’t know who is the bigger problem.

When one kills the other — and the other is nineteen year-old Ben Franklin — things get really crazy. Can their relationship survive? Can the future? Charlie and Yvaine are time travelers, they can fix this — theoretically — but the rules are complicated and the stakes are history as we know it. And there’s one more wrinkle: he can only travel into the past, and she can only travel into the future!
