Why did I pick this book: I participated in the blog tour hosted by AToMR Tours(I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. It was a fairly quick read that was fun and kept me interested even if it was a bit predictable. But that didn’t bother me. I enjoyed this read and I will read the next book in this series.

Rylie is your typical teenager in high school who is about to turn 16 years old. She loves her parents and her friends, especially her boyfriend, Adam. It was nice to see a teen actually like her parents and respect them in a YA novel. Rylie and her boyfriend have a chaste relationship…which is also a nice change of pace for a YA novel. They care about one another and have a great friendship on top of their romantic relationship.

On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Rylie finds out she that not only is she not the biological child of the parents who raised her but she is a faery…a powerful faery that is wanted by the Dark Faeries for her power. The story became rather exciting when Rylie is kidnapped the day after her sixteenth birthday. I would have thought her faery mother would have done more to try and save her but I guess she just wasn’t that powerful. As she is being held captive by the Dark Faeries, she worries about her parents and her friends at home. She wants to go home and be with them. However, she seems to go along with everything rather easily and without much concern. Maybe she thinks she can get out of the whole situation and the debt that is owed to the Dark Faeries. I think Rylie is also very interested in learning more about being a faery and that world.

The chemistry between Rylie and Kallan, Varwick’s son, was palpable. You could sense their attraction for one another despite both of their efforts to deny that attraction. They also acted like your typical teens – it is clear that they like each other but they don’t want to admit it to others or themselves. I want to see how their relationship, if their really is one, plays out.

Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book to any YA fantasy/paranormal fan.

Will I read it again: I will not read this book again but I will read the next book in the series. I want to see what happens next.

About the book:
Rylie has it all – great friends, dream boy, loving family. But on the eve of her sixteenth birthday, her perfect little world shatters. A stranger claiming to be her real mother appears with a secret: Rylie is a faery whose powers will be unleashed on her birthday. Captured and forced into a new life, Rylie struggles to keep everything she loves and discovers a terrifying truth: some promises cannot be broken.
