Why did I pick this book: I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the blog tour for Reflection hosted by YA Bound. (I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. It took awhile to get into it. In fact, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. But once I was about halfway through Reflection, the story started moving and I couldn’t put it down. I read every free chance I had.

Heather is in a coma. When she wakes up, she begins to tell the memories she has to the doctor. These memories were so well written. The reader could see in the “reflections” what were true memories and what parts of those memories were influenced by her hospital surroundings and environment. Heather had amazing recollection and details in her memories. (And, yes, I realize this is a book and that these details are important to the story but my impression was that of amazement at her retelling.)

The two male main characters – Nick and Creed – were also great characters. They are very different from one another yet you can see how they each would fit into Heather’s life. Nick, the boyfriend, seemed rather aloof to me even when they were together. I think there is more in his past than what we are told. We are given brief glimpses into his history, but not too much because the glimpses are only what Heather remembers. Creed is the old friend who has known Heather for a long time. He is a true friend and I kind of feel bad for him.

I was happy with how this story ended. It ended in the right place and in the right way, in my opinion. The story would not have been as believable had it ended any other way. I can’t wait for the sequel. I want to know what happens next.

Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book. Stick with it to the end, it is really worth the read.

Will I read it again: I doubt that I will but I definitely want to read the next book in this series, Reaction

About the book – from Goodreads:
Bright, spunky Heather Robbins has escaped her small hometown and is anxiously beginning her freshman year of college. Rising above her rocky childhood, she’s found a place where good things are finally starting to happen: her own private apartment, refreshing college classes, and an intense attachment to a mysterious and rugged classmate, Nick Richards.

But when her dreamy college life turns out to be nothing more than a wonderful dream while resting in a coma, questions threaten.

Now, Heather must press forward to unlock the real past, and find the answers buried deep in her mind. What she unlocks instead is a roller coaster ride through flashbacks, embellished memories, and a whirlwind romance.

And when it’s all over and she comes face to face with the truth, will she lose everything she’s fallen in love with?
