GIVEAWAY!! Blog Tour: Sneak (Swipe series #2) by Evan Angler

Why did I pick this book: I jumped at the chance to participate in this blog tour hosted by YA Bound. I had read and enjoyed Swipe, the first book in this series. (I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book but not as much as the first book, Swipe. I thought Sneak was a bit slower than Swipe. That could be because it is the second book in a series and a bridge between two books. I’m not sure. Don’t get me wrong, Sneak was a good read…just not as exciting as Swipe

Sneak picks up about a month after Swipe ends. Logan is on the run and The Dust is looking for him. The same players are involved – Logan (finding his way and he is the symbol of hope for the Markless); Peck (the leader, another symbol of hope for the Markless); Erin (a traitor but also searching for the truth through some unconventional – illegal – means); Hailey (a supporter and friend); Dane (an old friend with a great radio presence). And some new characters are introduced – Grandma (still clinging to the old ways and her “exclusive” religion); Lily (Logan’s lost/stolen sister, possible traitor or possibly brainwashed); and Hailey’s mother (knows enough to keep her mouth shut and her head down but willing to help out Grandma when the time comes).

I enjoyed the Unmarked River being like the Underground Railroad…not actually a river but a path to help and freedom. The symbols along the River that help guide the Markless were creative. The Fishers – the helpers to the Markless along the River – use the same method of identification that early Christians used…drawing the fish symbol with their feet (or hand in the air, etc). This really helped me to see where this series may be headed in the next installment…which cannot be released soon enough in my opinion!

Would I recommend it: I would recommend Sneak if you have read Swipe. I would not recommend it if you haven’t read the first book in the series. I would recommend this series though.

Will I read it again: I probably won’t. But I cannot wait for the next book to come out!!

About the book – from Goodreads:
When Logan Langly backed out of getting the Mark and went on the run, no one thought he could survive on his own. Without the Mark, you can’t buy food, bot to the doctor, or use a tablet-you aren’t even a citizen.

But when he discovers that his sister is being held in a mysterious hidden prison named Acheron, Logan risks everything to travel through and underground network of the Markless to rescue her.

Logan arrives only to find that Acheron holds more secrets than anyone could have guessed and that all his careful planning is worthless against a government that will do anything to gain absolute control. It seems there is only one place to turn.
But can a banned book with whisper-this pages and warnings about the real meaning of the Mark really hold the Answer?

About the author: Evan Angler is safe, for now. He lives without the Mark, evading DOME and writing in the shadows of Beacon. But if anyone asks, you know nothing about him. Don’t make eye contact if you see him. Don’t call his name out loud. He’s in enough trouble already. And so are you, if you read his book.
