Why did I pick this book: I was lucky enough to participate in the Night Sky blog tour through Tribute Books. (I was provided with a copy for review purposes.)

Did I enjoy this book: I really enjoyed this book. I read it every free chance I had and finished it in about a day. It was a quick read that moved and kept me interested until the very end.

I especially enjoyed reading a book from a guy’s point of view. I can’t remember the last book that I read – YA or any genre – that was narrated entirely from the guy’s perspective. That was great and Ms. Perry did a great job writing Jameson. Jameson was a fantastic character. I identified with his thoughts, love of swimming, and his use of swimming to clear his head. I felt like I connected with him on that. I cared about him. I wanted him to find his love and get over his heartbreak. It was also nice to see a guy learn that there is more to a relationship than just sex…that the two individuals have to connect on other levels, despite the hormones.

Sky was a wonderful character. She is wise beyond her years for reasons that we, the readers, had to wait to find out. She was a great match to Jameson in so many ways. I cared about her, too. I wanted things to work out for her even before I knew what it was that we wanted to have worked out.

Another interesting aspect of this book was Jameson’s hometown. You don’t read about a kid who grew up in Las Vegas near the strip. A kid whose parents work in the casinos and who grew up in the casinos and hotels. That was a really neat perspective. Something I have  never really thought about.

Would I recommend it: I definitely would. It was a great read.

Will I read it again: Probably not…but I will read more books by the author, Jolene Perry.

About the book – from the publisher: After losing Sarah, the friend he’s loved, to some other guy, Jameson meets Sky. Her Native American roots, fluid movements, and need for brutal honesty become addictive fast. This is good. Jameson needs distraction – his dad leaves for another woman, his mom’s walking around like a zombie, and Sarah’s new boyfriend can’t keep his hands off of her.

As he spends time with Sky and learns about her village, her totems, and her friends with drums – she’s way more than distraction. Jameson’s falling for her fast.

But Sky’s need for honesty somehow doesn’t extend to her life story – and Jameson just may need more than his new girl to keep him distracted from the disaster of his senior year.
